A Fine Sheraton Mahogany Sewing Table, probably New York, c.1800

DEACCESSIONED

This is a fairly large sized sewing table, which is supported on beautifully tapered and slender reeded legs with their original casters. The top is composed of a solid, highly figured mahogany top, with two drawers below and flanked by a reeded panels, which complements the reeding of the legs below.

Few of these tables have survived, and the few that remain often have histories of repairs and alterations. This is a fine specimen in perfect condition, that is truly beautiful with the most slender legs we have seen and yet supporting a good-sized case above. We have reupolstered the sewing basket in an appropriate silk fabric.

Height: 30 1/4 in. Width: 24 3/4 in. Depth: 16 3/4 in.
