A Chippendale Mahogany Tea Table with Scalloped Edge and Carved Fluted Legs, England, 19th century

DEACCESSIONED

This dark mahogany tea table is of large serviceable size and works very nicely in front of a sofa or chairs (to see its relative proportion to a wing chair, see image below). This tea table with scalloped edge has a very delicate carved molding below the apron, which is where the carved embellishment begins. The four fluted legs are beautifully reeded with carved floral corner blocks, as well as an edge beading. The legs are further reinforced with pierced stretchers of classic design (see additional images below).

This is a very solid classical piece, typical of English Chippendale preference for high style. It is in perfect original condition.
