A Large Mahogany Queen Anne Oval Dropleaf Table with Trifid Feet, English or Irish, c.1760

DEACCESSIONED

This is an outstanding table on the large scale and composed of three solid unjoined boards, the top being one board, and each of the drop leaves, a single, large board. Also, the wood is extremely thick, making this a very heavy table. The legs are beautifully sculptured Queen Anne cabriole legs which terminate in a trifid (stocking) foot, which is somewhat fancier than a plain Queen Anne pad foot.

We have placed six period Chippendale chairs around this table to show its size. This table is in a fine state of preservation with an old refinish showing ancient stains and wear through the centuries, which gives this table a beautiful historic depth.
