Carved Federal Gilt Mirror, probably Boston , c.1810

DEACCESSIONED

Announcement!  This item will be available at auction from Neal Auction Company on January 26th, 2019.  Preview exhibition is currently underway.  Click here to see our listings at nealauction.com.

This is a fine example of a good sized Federal Mirror which retains it original mirror and backboards. Note the backboards were taped by their original owners, as was a dated and written history of ownership. Please note the fine quality of woodwork in the cornice moldings. The gold leaf is in excellent condition.  There are many examples of this form and this one has the elements of
desirability altogether: original glass, original backboards, and
outstanding cornice molding carving.
