This worktable/sewing table, without the wooden bag, would have certainly been called a center table. As a worktable, is a fairly rare form. This table is in superb condition with beautifully figured mahogany throughout. Note the solid mahogany scroll supports and the artful way they are integrated with the workbasket. This table clearly has lived a cared for life.
