Exceptional Tiger Maple Blanket Chest with Two Drawers, NE, c.1770

DEACCESSIONED

This chest speaks for itself, as it is the best of the best in tiger maple.  Each of the components of the chest is made of single, solid tiger maple boards.  To appreciate an example of this, please view the top board.  Many times, when tiger maple boards are found in these widths the tiger is only at the top or middle, but rarely is it consistent over a span of, say, 20 in. as is seen throughout this piece.   This chest boasts strong tiger figuring on all surfaces, and–speaking of surfaces–retains an old, dry, probably original finish.

Height: 42 in.  Case Width: 36 1/2 in. Overall Width: 38 in.  Depth: 19 1/4 in.
