Fine Mahogany Chippendale Tilt-top table, England, c.1780

The top of this table, composed of a single board of solid mahogany of dramatic figure, is supported by a well-turned column with swirled urn. The legs are beautifully crafted with very pronounced stylized claw and ball feet further embellished with acanthus carving on the knees. This table retains an old surface with the top cleaned to a point to which the wood figure is revealed.  The table is in pristine condition with no repairs or alterations whatsoever and is as fine a table as will be found in the period. It is clearly the work of a master craftsman and we hope you enjoy all of the various images we present.
