This table is composed of solid leaves of vibrantly figured mahogany which is carved with a gadrooned molding at its edge. There is one middle section that is removable and is operated by a crank mechanism, which was in fashion at the time. Interestingly, although the crank mechanism takes time to operate, once the table is pulled out with accommodating leaf, it is as solid as when it is without the leaf.
The feet are spaced at each corner, which is very practical, in that seating with a leg in the middle never becomes a problem. The cabriole feet are magnificently carved, with acanthus molding on the knee (see detailed images). This is a solid, all mahogany table of the finest wood and employing the best craftsmanship.
