An Eagle Stenciled Sea Chest, c.1800

DEACCESSIONED

This sea chest has an asymmetric form which obviously was made to fit within the confines of a ship.  This chest is all original and has had no alterations or modifications.  There is some loss to the pigment of the stenciled eagle. This chest came from a prominent local Providence family and belonged to a seagoing ancestor.
