A Mahogany Empire Bureau, Maine, c.1820

DEACCESSIONED

This bureau of highly figured mahogany has robustly turned columns and Sheraton style turned legs. It is notable in its exhibition of exuberant carving and detail, i.e. the carved apron and distinctive four-part leaf flanking the apron. This distinctive piece was found in Lymington, Maine and is, no doubt, the work of a country artisan showing his skills.
