Sheraton Mahogany Pembroke Table, New York, c.1810

This fine Sheraton mahogany pembroke table of small scale is composed of a highly figured solid mahogany top with cloved leaves and delicate Sheraton legs on original casters. It is typical of the early New York Phyfe school and is almost identical to one illustrated in Duncan Phyfe and the English Regency by Nancy McClelland, (see scan). It retains its original oval pull and a warm overall patina.
