A Monumental Federal Carved Tiger Maple and Mahogany Chest, c.1820

DEACCESSIONED

This chest exhibits a beautiful scrolled backsplash with carving and original gallery retaining an original surface.  The multi-faceted drawer configuration is a tour de force of bottle drawers, silverware drawers and original tambour; flanking all this are two reeded columns with carved motifs.  The legs are turned in a Sheraton style.  This is a unique piece and probably is New Hampshire; secondary wood is poplar.  The tambour has its original canvas backing, which is easily repairable.
