A Fine Carved and Inlaid Art-Nouveau Oak Rocking Chair, c.1890

This masterful yet whimsical
chair exhibits fine carving on all surfaces with animals,
and art nouveau wheat carving oppsite the crest rail.
The oak is very smooth and is embellished with varying
inlay work of alternating contrasting woods, not typical
for this period.  All is supported on four monumental
claw and ball as well as paw feet, the front feet
are carved in a different style than the rear, each
finely excecuted.  All sides exhibit a different
carved expression.
