A Fine Mahogany Federal Hepplewhite Sideboard with Strong Serpentine Shaping and inlaid Patera probably Portsmouth or North Shore, c.1790-1810

DEACCESSIONED

This sideboard came to us, we understand, through a New England Historical Association and in very drab, untouched condition, apparently unused through the years.  We are attracted to the very shapely nature of this sideboard, (see profile image).   This piece, although quite deep in the center, is offset by recessed doors below and give this piece a very light feeling.  This sideboard is a classic expression of the Hepplewhite form, which is very elegant and stately.
