A Federal Mahogany Banjo Clock, by Sylvester Edgarly, Roxbury, MA, c.1835

DEACCESSIONED

Sylvester Edgarly was one of the last of the great Banjo makers in the circle of Willard, and was apprenticed to Simon Willard.  Clocks related to this example are illustrated in two places in Foley’s book on Willard patent time pieces.  (See 2 scans below).

This clock is in wonderful original condition with its first reverse paintings and untouched dial with clear signature.   It is a collector’s clock, for someone who wants a perfect example with beautiful yellow tablets.
