John Smith Mahogany Longcase Clock, Chester, England, c.1785

The elaborately carved case with conforming cornice hood, stop-fluted
free standing columns flanking the arched and glazed hood door over the
composite brass dial signed in the arch John Smith Chester,
silvered chapter ring and Roman numerals, engraved center and cast brass
spandrels, serpentine shaped waist door flanked by stop-fluted quarter
columns, raised panel base and chamfered corners.
