A Fine Mahogany Work Table with Convex Corners and Lift Top, New York, c.1810

DEACCESSIONED

This is an exceptional work table of beautiful form.  We’ve never seen the convex corner so well executed, which reduces the mass of the form.   With, basically, a lift-top and drawer, it has a lightness of feel.   Note the lift top, it is a solid piece of the most wonderfully figured mahogany available at the time, and is unavailable today.   The column support is quite sophisticated, and the tapered spider legs have fine casters, which make this an extremely usable piece of furniture, especially by the side of a nice chair.  This work table is in perfect condition with no breaks or alterations.
