A Very Fine Classical/Federal Mahogany Tilt-top table, New York, c.1800/1810

DEACCESSIONED

This tilt-top table is a pristine example of the Classical form denoted by the carved leafage on its saber leg and urn with original gilt ball feet.   The column on this table is magnificent.  Not only is it beautifully turned above the urn in a vasiform, but the carved urn is something which is very rarely seen.  The old, dry top has its old warm glow, and magnificent figured mahogany.   If this were not enough, the oval top a double elliptical form, which relates to the drop-leaf tables produced en suite with these pieces.    For examples in our collection, see sw00894 & sw00134.
