One seldom finds a pier table that can be attributed to its maker, and here, Quervelle stands out as probably the best furniture maker in Philadelphia at the time.  This pier table is quite exuberant with the carved swans and the only one we have seen (aside from a marble top side table in our collection – see sw00981).   Furniture with animal motifs always hold interest and make a statement in any Classical room or even among furniture of other types.  The Mahogany is highly figured and striking and the carving typical of the great work Quervelle was able to create.  When we acquired this table, it had an old faux-marble (not original) top, and we have had a Carrera marble of the correct thickness polished to a honed surface (not shiny) and offer both  to the buyer.  (See images below.)  This piece is unique and exuberant, and in fine condition, which we have French Polished to reveal the beauty that it had when it was made.
