A Large Mahogany Bombe Commode, Continental, c.1720

This commode has an extremely well-developed serpentine (or bombe) shape not only in the front, but also developed along its sides. It is a beautifully sculptured early piece of monumental proportion. It was acquired in Newport, RI. There are no major repairs or alterations whatsoever.

Please note the the wonderful paneling on the sides. Also note, the drawer construction is typical of this early period.
