Monumental Neoclassical Mahogany Linen Press, Southern, c.1820

DEACCESSIONED

Strongly reeded columns flanking each door with detailed capitols
below a strongly developed cornice top molding define this armoire. While this entire
casepiece is composed of solid mahogany, the doors are of large, ribbon grained,
contrasting mahogany, which, being solid, shows on the inside as well as the outside. The
entire casepiece breaks down for transport and the interior is fitted with drawers, all of
which bear their original hardwear. The paw feet are dramatically carved and balance this
large scale piece. There are no alterations or repairs, it is in mint original condition.
