A Fine Classical Carved Mahogany Empire Worktable with highly developed Hairy Paw Feet, New England, c.1830

DEACCESSIONED

This worktable has about the finest carving to be found
on this form. At this period, these popular worktables,
which fit nicely next to armchair or sofa, were manufactured
by many shops in New England and were of varying quality.

Please note the fabulous carving
on the legs and post (as shown above) which make this piece
truly a compact joy to behold. Note, the very fine handmade
dovetails. This piece is far from a machine-made knockoff.
There are three drawers, the top of which reveals a writing
tablet and mirror under its top. The mahogany is highly
figured and this table is in superb original condition.
