While this desk was made in the early to mid 19th century, the construction techniques used throughout reveal the earlier construction techniques used in forms of this eighteenth century style, i.e. the dovetailing on the top, and the solid unpanneled sides. The decorative idioms of the mid 19th century abound with the stylized supports flanking the desk drawers as well as the scroll feet and the characteristic molding around the drawerfronts. The top lid is veneered with flame mahogany, and the interior with bird’s eye maple, all evidencing fine benchmade characteristics throughout.

This desk is in pristine condition, retaining its original pulls, lid hinge, etc.
