A Crossbanded and Figured Mahogany Classical 3-drawer Worktable with Rare Lyre basket, Boston, c.1825

This worktable has an unusual lyre form basket composed of highly figured mahogany, cross-banded with Rosewood. The cross-banding element is carried through throughout on the plinth at the base, the drawer edges and on the top, including its leaves. All of which is illustrated in the various photos below. This worktable also retains its original writing tablet in the top drawer.

This is a striking, unusual worktable of typical Boston form and is in remarkable original condition including its mahogany knobs. We have cleaned and French polished this piece to bring out the beauty of its wood.
