A Federal Mahogany Worktable with Reeded Legs, NewYork, c.1810

DEACCESSIONED

This worktable of good size is composed of highly figured mahogany. The top is of the solid (see detail), where most tables of this type are found with veneered tops, and is also reeded on its edge, which complements the legs. The top is a fabulous piece of mahogany and is hinged, lifting up to its original fitted interior with writing surface and original inkwells (see detail). This is in addition to the two drawers below and makes for a very serviceable worktable. It is in a superb state of preservation.

A related card table is illustrated in American Antiques in the Israel Sack Collection, Vol. VII, P5184.
